The
Organic Geochemistry Unit, within the School of Chemistry, has received
over 20 research grants from a range of funding bodies, including
NERC, The Royal Society, The Wellcome Trust, English Heritage and
several commercial organisations.
The
research group currently includes 4 PDRAs, 12 PhD students and 3
technicians. Major research fields include: the molecular fate and
cycling of organic matter in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems,
bacterial and invertebrate ecology using molecular and stable isotope
tracer techniques, molecular indicators of sewage pollution, biomolecular
archaeology and palaeontology and palaeoclimate reconstruction through
molecular and isotopic measurements of organic matter in sedimentary
archives.
More
information about the OGU can be found on the group
webpage.
