Maleimide-Polyethylene Glycol (known as MPEG for short) is a molecule created by artificially modifying human hemoglobin. It can be used as a substitute for blood, and so has applications in medical operations and transfusions. These web pages will help to explain some of the background and excitement surrounding this molecule.
