My Research

My paradigm for the synthesis of nanoscale materials can be characterized as a directed bottom-up approach. I work at the interface between two labs, that of Prof. Ian Manners specializing in inorganic polymer materials, and that of Prof. Dek Woolfson whose research concerns peptide based materials. By integrating these two fields I synthesize and investigate the synergies between these materials with emphasis on their performance at the nanoscale. Biology and biochemistry demonstrate many diverse methods of nanoscale assembly and I try to understand and leverage these assembly techniques to build new nanoscale materials and devices.
