• Molecular photodissociation dynamics using H-atom photofragment translational spectroscopy and ion imaging.
• Laser probing of plasmas used for chemical vapour deposition of diamond films.

• Applications of CRDS to atmospheric chemistry, study of aerosol particles, and plasma diagnostics.
• Chemical reaction dynamics, particularly determining angular scattering of reaction products.
• Photochemistry of atmospherically relevant molecules.
• Photochemical reaction mechanisms in organic chemistry.

• High resolution spectroscopy of transient species.
• Electronic spectroscopy of carbon chain molecules
• Spectroscopy of highly excited Rydberg and ion-pair states of small radicals

• Spectroscopy and structure of metal containing cluster ions.

Opportunities exist for extensive collaboration with the Theoretical Chemistry group of Professor G.G. Balint-Kurti, particularly in the areas of electronic structure and wavepacket scattering calculations, with the Bristol Diamond Group and with the atmospheric modelling group of Dr. D.E. Shallcross.
