A comparison between the RKR potential energy curves of the states and the simple
Coulombic attraction between S+ and S- is shown. Note the close match
between the outer wall of the ion pair potential and the Coulombic attraction of the two ions.
The bond length at the minimum of the ion pair potential well can also be seen to be close to
that of the sum of the radii of the S+ and S- ions.
