Synthesis, Characterisation and Application of Linear and Star Polymers of Poly(Styrene Sulfonate)

Linear and six-arm star poly(styrene sulfonate) will be synthesized by controlled/"living" radical polymerisation (ATRP & RAFT) in aqueous medium. The potential application of these end-functional polymers in medicine and nanotechnology will be investigated. Similarly the properties of the inclusion complexes formed between the six-arm star poly(styrene sulfonate) containing alpha-cyclodextrin core and sodium oleate/ PEO will be studied by 1H NMR, SANS and SAXS analytical techniques.
