Function:

This nutrient is involved in bone formation, and in protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism. The RDA for manganese is 2.3mg for men and 1.8mg for women. Manganese deficiency is rare in humans. The UL is around 11mg, which has recently been shown to have no adverse effects. In occupational exposure, nervous system disorders and schizophrenia may occur.
