al. 

Pyrochatechol and chloro-acetylchloride react in the presence of
phosphorchloridoxide to 3,4-dihydroxy- -chloracetophenone (Fries-rearrangement).

After the conversion with methylamine, adrenalone will be reduced with sodiumamalgam to adrenaline.
