1 A.D. Chemistry is founded in Hellenistic Alexandria as a fusion of the technical arts of primitive civilisations with the speculations of the ancient Greeks. 300 A.D. Zosimos of Panopolis founds a school in Alexandria in which pupils learn the basic chemical operations as well as the art of camouflaging ordinary metals to pass for gold. 500 A.D. Indian treatise ,"Arthasatra" , gives details on mining, metallurgy, medicine, pyrotechincs, poisons. fermented liquors, and sugar.
