COSMETIC CHEMISTRY

Hello! My name is Nicola Howe, and since this is my first ever website, I apologise in advance for any problems you may encounter. Please email me if you do have any problems with my site, just don't expect me to be able to help!

Cosmetics is a multi-billion pound industry which influences all our lives (to varying degrees of course!). If you are at all like me then the world of make-up is a land of wonder and excitement. The urge to smother my pores in exotic paints and powders, whilst suffering the strange belief that this is in someway good for me, has never been so great. I therefore wonder why I have never before, thought to ask the question of, what are the magical powders made of? Naively I assumed it would be some weird and complicated compound constantly evolving at the forefront of modern science. Well, I was completely and totally wrong! It's Talc! Simple, boring, old talcum powder!

But then I looked again and discovered that talc isn't as boring as I thought and is really pretty useful. So this site is dedicated to that very familiar mineral - Talc.
