The humble coconut. Reported
to kill 15 times more people than sharks by the Florida Museum of
Natural History, a two kilogram coconut falling from a tall (25 metre)
tree would have a velocity of 80 kilometers per hour on impact. Ouch.
But should we really fear this object of beauty? I for one would risk the trauma of relatives explaining to others that my demise was from an oversized walnut than winning the shark lottery and having a face-full of teeth interrupt my peaceful snorkel in the Seychelles.... No, coconuts have done far more good to humans than bad, as this jumbled assortment of pages will try to tell you.
