Biodiesel:  A renewable alternative fuel to diesel.

Bioinert:  Very unreactive to natural biochemical processes.

Biosolvents:  Environmentally friendly solvents

Binary ionic liquids:  Ionic liquids which consist of several different ionic species which are in equilibrium with each other.

Methyl esters:  A carboxylic acid derived compound.

Microorganisms:  Organisms which are too small to be seen clearly by the unaided eye.

Polymer:  A long chain molecule consisting of a large number of monomer units
