Plavix® is administered orally as pink biconvex tablets which contain 97.875 mg of clopidogrel bisulphate - equivalent to 75 mg of clopidogrel base. Each tablet also contains hydrogenated castor oil, hydroxypropylcellulose, mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose and polyethylene glycol 6000. Clopidogrel bisulphate is a white powder and the tablets are coated with a pink film which contains ferric oxide, hypromellose 2910, lactose monohydrate, titanium dioxide and triacetin.
