Community Challenge 2010

Seamills Boys and Girls Club
Project Aims
- Provide a garden for Seamills Boys and Girls Club, Sea Mills, Bristol.
- The finished garden will have two seperate sections. The bottom part will be wood-chipped, the top turfed with grass, and railway sleepers dividing these two sections. Will will then finish the garden by painting the surrounding railings in multi-coloured stripes!
- Practice some skills, such as gardening, landscape design, project management and fundraising.
- Have fun!
End of project Barbeque:
To celebrate the completion of the project, Saturday will be topped off by a barbeque in the garden to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and contributions.
Details
This Community Challenge is being organised in consultation with the University of Bristol Centre for Public Engagement and "Business in the Community". A group of staff and students from the School of Chemistry will provide a garden for Seamills Boys and Girls Club, Bristol.
This event follows two enjoyable and successful "Community Challenge" weekend events held in previous years, at Stockwood Community Centre in 2007 and Weston Park Primary School in 2006.

Fundraising
- Thanks to everyone who came to the Grain Barge to watch Messy Subjects, a great time was had by all and we raised £281 from ticket sales!
- Money has been counted from the quiz night; thanks to everyone who turned up and made it an awesome evening, we raised £187.42! We done to the winning Aggarwal team.
- Thanks to everyone who baked and ate at our launch cake sale - we were able to raise £219.94

- A Raffle of Store equipment - you can win multiples of everything you've ever wanted!
- A final cake sale (yes we know, we love our cake!)
