Rico completed his undergraduate degree in chemistry at Bristol, working in his final year for Prof. Eastoe. He then took a year out to get a real job, found this far too much like hard work, and so returned to do a PhD.

His research involves the study of fundamental kinetic processes involved with the adsorption of surfactants on solid surfaces, and is jointly funded by the EPSRC and Infinuem.
