Every few years anchovy fish in the Southern Pacific disappear due to changes in climatic and ocean currents.
In the oceans there are four major upwelling zones, North and South Pacific and North and South Atlantic. These upwelling zones bring nutrients to the surface areas of the ocean encouraging the growth of primary producers. These upwellings normally occur at Christmas time.
