VRML Reference
The Virtual Reality Modeling Language is still a very new language, and it is constantly evolving. The reference that I have put together here is based upon the V1.0 specifications, and doesn't cover the V2.0 additions or modifications. You should also note that it doesn't cover all of the features in the language. This is partly due to it's complexity, and partly due to the fact that I'm not 100% sure of exactly how parts of the language function.

  1. Introduction - general overview
  2. The Basics - layout of VRML files, headers, etc.
  3. Data Types - definitions of the various data types used in VRML
  4. Shapes - nodes that pruduce shapes in your world
  5. Cameras and Lights - nodes that define cameras and lights in your world
  6. Materials and Separators - setting colours and materials etc.
  7. Transformations - moving, scaling, and rotating the shapes etc.
  8. DEF and USE - DEFining and USEing objects within your worlds
  9. Miscellaneous - miscellaneous functions and information
  10. Chemistry in VRML - how chemical data can be represented using VRML
