The Future

It is possible to not use pesticides. At the moment there is a conflict between cost, availibilty and consumption. The future is to make pesticides safer, cut down their use and support alternatives. An example of cutting down on harmful pesticides is the pesticide Methyl Bromide which is considered to be an ozone depleting substance. It is planned that its use will be phased out by 2005.

You are responsible for the use of pesticides. As a consumer you can put pressure on your local supermarkets and farmers.
