Treatment is
difficult because clinical signs are not noticeable until the disease is
advanced. If drugs are given at an
early stage, clinical signs can be prevented.
Sulphonamides: Sulphaguanidine, or readily absorbed
sulphonamides such as sulphamerazine or sulphamethazine. Sulphaquinoxaline is also used.
Sulphonamides are organic compounds that contain the group -SO2.NH2. They
are amides of sulphonic acids. These
are bacteriostatic antibiotics, because they inhibit the growth of the
bacteria, but do not kill them.

Lasalocid: Effective against preventing coccidiosis but not treating.
