RNA BASES

RNA differs from DNA in three main ways. First of all, RNA exists as single strands in cells. Secondly, the sugar in DNA is deoxyribose, wheras in RNA it is ribose (hence the nomenclature: R - Ribose, D - Deoxyribose). Thirdly, RNA contains the base uracil (U) (note that the only difference is the missing methyl group off one of the ring carbon atoms) instead of thymine (T).

The differences between deoxyribose and ribose sugars. Deoxyribose sugar is so named because it lacks an oxygen atom compared to the ribose sugar
