The Chemistry of Swimming

Or rather the chemistry of swimming pools. This website aims to tell you a bit about how the water in swimming pools is kept clean and safe for us to swim in.

Harmful chemicals in the water are disinfected primarily using chlorine or chlorine containing compounds. Other chemicals are then used to balance the water's pH and alkalinity.

Please use the links on the left to find your way around the site.
