Applying to do a PhD in the Bristol Chemical Synthesis DTC

Filling in a formApplications are welcomed from students from the UK/EU with, or expecting to gain, a first or upper second class honours MSci/MChem degree (or equivalent). Interests in any area of modern Chemical Synthesis including organic and inorganic methodology, natural product and target molecule synthesis, organometallic chemistry, catalysis, asymmetric synthesis will be expected. Additionally applications from candidates with interests in enabling and supporting areas such as spectroscopy, isotopic labelling, crystallography, mechanism and kinetics, physical chemistry techniques, theoretical and practical photochemistry, computational chemistry and modelling, biotransformations and biosynthesis, carbohydrate chemistry, molecular and chemical biology techniques would also be welcomed.

As well as opportunities in the DTC, PhD studentships are available in all branches of chemistry beginning in October 2010.

How do I apply?

If you are suitably qualified and you wish to do a PhD in an area that can be considered Chemical Synthesis or Functional Nanomaterials, please contact the Director of Graduate Recruitment for more details or fill in the online form. At this stage it would help if you could also say which type of research you're interested in (e.g. organic or inorganic synthetic methodology, natural product and target molecule synthesis, catalysis, asymmetric synthesis, colloids, chemical vapour deposition, liquid crystals, materials synthesis, nanotechology, photochemistry, polymers, etc.).

Overseas Students

Applications are invited from UK or EU students, but students from outside the UK are not eligible for full DTC grants.
