Lithium Carbonate

Li₂CO₃ is a naturally occurring compound that is known as a mood stabilizer that is used to prevent or at least reduce the mood shifts in bipolar. It is highly effective in controlling the mania aspect of bipolar.

Levels of dosage have to monitored regularly as there is a fine line between an effective one and a toxic one.

The other main problem with lithium carbonate is that often the sufferer begins to feel so much improved that they will stop medication-which can lead to many problems.
