This is a list of some of the
products (anthropogenic and natural) containing sodium benzoate. As you can see, there is a great

It is also used as a
corrosion inhibitor in antifreeze products like the ones used to stop
water in cars from freezing.

Intermediate in manufacture

Antiseptic medicine.

Antihistamine medication.

Vanishing creams.

Used in tobacco and
pharmaceutical preparations.

Rust and mildew inhibitor.

Sometimes it is used as a
stabiliser in photographic processing.

A new use involves inserting
it into plastics e.g. polypropylene to improve strength and clarity.
