Acetylcholine was the first neurotransmitter be to identified. It was discovered in 1914 by Henry Hallet Dale. Acetylcholine was confirmed as a neurotransmitter by Otto Loewi. In 1936 both of these scientists recieved Nobel prizes in Physiology or Medicine for their work. |
